You’re probably already familiar with Google snippets. Let’s take a look at the basics of Google’s ever-changing and complex world. We’ll then discuss how to achieve rich and featured snippets and the best way to optimize your site for them. We all use Google every day, and we’ve probably seen these snippets.

We may not have been aware of the term or the way businesses can use these features to influence what appears on the SERP or search engine results page (of course, there is an acronym for this!). They can be presented as a paragraph summary (sentence descriptions), arranged in a list (step-by-step or how-to instructions), or as graphical data (prices or data points).

A featured snippet’s goal is to give the user up-front and accurate information while reducing the number of clicks to sites that are irrelevant or don’t provide an answer to the question. There’s no code or special thing you can do to make your site appear in the featured snippets on Google. Google determines programmatically which answers are featured. There have been conflicting reports about what exactly helps you appear in these snippets. You’re in luck. You can adjust your content and take a few steps to climb the mountain to reach the top of Google SERP.

  • Answer questions and ask.
  • Although it may seem obvious to some, be sure you repeat the question and your answer logically.
  • Use the appropriate headers’ hierarchical structure (ex: “H2 tag”) and tags.
