This post is a great guide for beginners on how to set up smart coupons in WooCommerce. This post will walk you through the steps to create a smart coupon with the YayPricing plugin.

Let’s first see when smart coupons are needed.

When Should You Use Smart Coupons?

The default WooCommerce coupon feature is not cutting-edge and has a basic design. You can customize the WooCommerce coupons further by using a plugin such as YayPricing. By converting ordinary coupons to smart coupons, you can improve the performance of your website.

You can, for example, use coupons based on certain conditions, customized products, product categories, etc. You can make smart coupons work for your business this way.

Here are some situations where you can use smart coupons:

Purchase a product to receive a discount on another product

Offer a discount if the cart value is greater than a certain amount

Discounts for customers who have items in their cart from a certain category

Discounts are available to customers whose carts contain a certain number of items

For free campaigns, offer to buy a certain product and receive additional product options.

Give something away for free when the customer purchases a certain product. (Give a cover to the customer who buys a phone in your store).

Offer free shipping after a certain amount of products are added to the shopping cart.

You now know the benefits of creating smart coupons in WooCommerce. Let’s now move on to the core of this article, where I’ll teach you how to set it up.

How do you create a Buy X, Get Y Discount Coupon Campaign?

This section will teach you how to create WooCommerce smart coupons. In this tutorial, I’ll use the YayPricing plugin, one of the most powerful tools on the market, to enhance WooCommerce’s pricing structure.

Install and activate YayPricing in your WooCommerce shop. In this instance, I’ll use the premium version because it gives me more control over pricing and offers multiple unique features.

Once you have completed the installation, license verification, and activation, we can begin setting up smart coupons.

In 3 easy steps, you can create a Get Y for X based on WooCommerce Coupon.

Let’s jump right into the tutorial.

Create a WooCommerce coupon code.

Go to the WooCommerce Coupons section of your shop. You can find it on the tab. Create a new code once you’ve found the coupon settings.

Create a discount code for $0 here. You can enter a code manually or generate one randomly. We will, in this case, use YAY25 to create the coupon code. Set the expiration date and restrictions if you are running this campaign only for a short time.

Then, you can publish the code. Next, let’s set up a new YayPricing Campaign.

Step 2: Set Up a New YayPricing Campaign

YayPricing is located under the YayCommerce settings section.

Click on the button to add your first rule if you have not yet configured any custom rules.

You will see some campaigns already configured on your screen. We are using a Get Y for X campaign.

Give it a friendly title to identify smart coupons for the WooCommerce coupon campaign as a later “Buy X, get Y” discount.

The name will not be displayed on the front of the site, but it can help you identify which rules you’ve configured if there are multiple campaigns.

Step 3: Customize your Campaign

Configure the rule to suit your needs.

You can configure the rule to be based on certain products or categories of products. Then, navigate to the Conditions section. There, it would be best if you created a condition.

Choose the Applied coupons rule from the dropdown menu.

You will be able to see the codes after selecting the condition. This is the only coupon code that we can see.

Enter the code manually if you cannot see it. Add the coupon to the list once the plugin has displayed it.

Save the settings after you finish this section.

Let’s now test it on the front end.

Test the Smart Coupons for WooCommerce Coupons

Add a few products to your cart. You can apply coupons by checking the cart.

Enter your coupon code and click “Apply” to apply.

Please verify that the coupon code has been applied to your order automatically after using it.

You can also check the current price on the checkout page.

Here’s how to create smart coupons in WooCommerce. Customers can receive an exclusive discount or gift when they use a WooCommerce coupon. In this case, fixed discounts are added to the coupon.
