Writesonic is a top-rated AI-based writing tool, but how good is it really?
We’ll first explain what Writesonic and its features are. We’ll then take a closer, more detailed look at each of these features as we explore this platform.
We’ll then discuss Writesonic’s pricing and give our thoughts on its main pros and cons. We’ll also share our final verdict as to whether it’s worth paying for and why.
What is Writesonic?
The super popular AI-based writing tool, Writesonic, is used by more than 5 million writers and teams.
With the power of generative artificial intelligence, you can create SEO-optimized and plagiarism-free content up to 10 times faster.
The model is based on OpenAI GPT-4, which is the current best large language (LLM) model on the market.
It can produce content of high quality that is as good (if not better) than what a person could create at the touch of a mouse.
It’s true, of course, that you could use Bing Chat or the premium version ChatGPT to create content using GPT-4.
This tool is packed with powerful tools to make the content creation process easier. These include 100+ AI templates, a built-in document editor, an image creator, a chatbot that uses real-time data for search, a Chrome Extension, and more.
It’s also much easier to use because it was designed specifically for writers and marketing professionals, not for general users.
Template library
The AI Template Library is displayed as soon as you log into Writesonic.
You’ll find here dozens of AI-powered tools that are suitable for different scenarios.
You select a template that matches the type of content that you want to create. Then, you enter initial prompts/instructions that will guide the AI, and it will generate the content for you.
This post isn’t long enough to cover all of the templates available in Writesonic. But here’s an overview of some favorites.
AI Article Writer 5.0. Writesonic’s latest version of its long-form generator. It can be used to create factual and up-to-date blog posts of up to 2,500 characters based on articles from competitors or your content. It can be fed up to five different articles to research and will use the information it gathers to create the best possible blog post.
Article rewriter. Paste an article you want to paraphrase in Writesonic, and it will rewrite everything from scratch with just one click. This is useful when you need to refresh old content quickly for SEO.
There’s also a Content Rephrase Template, which does the same thing but changes the style/voice as needed. And a Rewrite With Keywords Template, which inserts the keywords into the paraphrased versions.
Facebook Ads. Create compelling copy for Facebook ads in just seconds.
There are templates and tools for Google Ads as well as LinkedIn Ads.
Product descriptions. In seconds, you can generate short descriptions of products on your ecommerce site in any tone.
Write engaging captions for your Instagram posts. Create interesting captions for Instagram posts.
Other templates are available to create different social media posts, such as Twitter threads, Tweets, and TikTok video scripts.
SEO keywords generator. Create a list of keyword ideas that are relevant to your niche/topic and that you may want to use in your SEO campaign.
Review Responses. Manage your online reputation easily by automatically generating customized replies to both positive and negative reviews.
You can find many more templates, such as landing pages, YouTube titles, and descriptions, article summaries, or blog ideas.
If you don’t see a template for what you need, you can choose the Create Your AI template instead and type in your prompts.
AI Writer
Writesonic AI writer, as we mentioned briefly earlier, is based on the OpenAI GPT large-language model.
You can select which version of GPT to use to generate AI content: GPT-3.5 or GPT-4. The dropdown menu at the bottom of your sidebar allows you to switch between the two.
If you have only 12,000 words to create this month, you are only able to produce 2,000 words for GPT-4.
In this test, we chose Premium Quality (the GPT-3.5 Version). You can get a better result if you spend more credits.
The next step after selecting your quality level is to choose a template. This test will be conducted using AI article writer 5.0.
Then, follow the instructions on the screen to complete the prompts and give Writesonic some context as to what you would like to write. Finally, click Generate.
You might be asked, for example, to provide a keyword or topic, some references, select a tone, etc.
In this test, Writesonic was asked to write an article about ‘AI software for writing.’ I then fed it links from top-ranking Google articles on that keyword.
Writesonic came back to me with a pop-up telling me how much credit it would cost. I thought this was really neat.
I began writing my article as soon as I confirmed it was okay. This is a sample of what I got back:
The article began with an introduction and then went on to give a listicle overview of the major benefits of AI-writing software. It then moved on to an overview of the best writing software:
This isn’t bad in the end. I found a few aspects to be particularly impressive.
First of all, I like that Writesonic has structured this post like a blog, using HTML markup to include things like bullet points, header tags and a bolded introduction paragraph.
I also think it’s cool that the software managed to find royalty-free photos and insert them in the article, as well as crediting the URL under them. It did something that I never asked it to.
All in all, it’s not perfect. It’s a bit dry, and it doesn’t provide much insight. So, it reads as a generic SEO artic,le.
It would be very easy to make this article of high quality with some editing.
